Description
Breast preening surf scoter, Gus Wilson, South Portland, Maine, 1st quarter 20th century.
Early, Monhegan Island style with wide body. In breast preening pose with wide inlet neck seat. Relief carved wings, carved eyes and detailed bill carving.
CONDITION: Old inuse repaint with moderate flaking and wear; lightly hit by shot; dry rot in wood on one side and underside; crack in one side of neck seat and head; chip in front of neck seat.
