Includes a standing miniature oldsquaw measuring 5" long and signed on the underside, a 1/3 size resting woodcock measuring 7" long and ink stamped on the underside, and an excellent 1/2 size standing quail measuring 5" long and signed on the underside.
Sparre died at the age of 88 in 2011. He survived the D-Day Normandy invasion and five other compaigns during WWII. After returning home he befriend Dr. George Ross Starr and carved miniature bird carvings as well as deep sea life dioramas for the New England Aquarium in his spare time. Upon retirement he carved waterfowl full time from his shop on Cape Cod.
