Early, three piece mallard drake, Charles Perdew, Henry, Illinois.

Hollow carved three-piece body with excellent form.  The earliest of Edna Perdew paint with comb feather paint detail on lower sides.  Measures 16 3/4" long.

CONDITION:  Original paint with minor discoloration and wear; a fine crazing on most of the decoy; tight crack through neck with touch up; scattered touch up to spots of flaking mostly on the head and one on speculum; some loss to filler around one eye; layer of old paint was added under the weight likely to try and seal up the screw holes.

Provenance:  One of a group of three early rigmates including a sleeping hen that were consigned to Guyette & Deeter.  The other two being sold in our April 25 & 26 live auction in conjunction with the National Decoy Collectors annual show in St. Charles, Illinois.
