Description

Merganser drake, Lemuel Ackerly, Patchogue, Long Island, New York, 1st quarter 20th century.

Raised neck seat and high ridge on back and tail.  Branded ‘W.L. Suydam’ in the underside.  Measure 17 1/4” long.

CONDITION:  Head was replaced 30 years ago by Capt. George Coombs; early paint on body is likely a second coat as the pattern of a bluebill drake is visible under the merganser pattern; moderate wear; small dents and shot marks.
