Roothead yellowlegs from the Thorne Rig, Long Island, New York, 2nd half 19th century.

Root head as a single piece neck, head, and bill.  Bill is angled of to one side.  Measures 11” long.  See page 96 in 'American Bird Decoys' by William Mackey, Jr. for similar examples.

CONDITION:  Very old paint appears original with moderate wear and crazy; tight cracks and small chips in base of neck; drying crack in one side of face; minor blunting to tip of tail.
