Description
Golden plover from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, last quarter 19th century.
Fat bodied carving just under 3" wide. Split tail carving. Hollowed from the underside in two places to make it useable as a wind bird. Measures 10” long.
CONDITION: Early paint with significant flaking and wear; a few shot marks; metal bill is likely a very early replacement; chipping at stick hole.
