Description

Low head mallard, John English, Florence, New Jersey, last quarter 19th century.

Hollow carved with tucked head and raised ‘V’ wing tips.  From the rig of William Appleton with his name painted on the underside and his metal rig tag on the underside.  Measures 14 3/4” long.

CONDITION:  Very early repaint with moderate discoloration and wear; some paint flaking and small dents; crack in bill was secured with a small nail in one side; glass eyes are replacements and one is cracked.
