Description

 

Sleeping black duck, Joe Morgan, Holland, Pennsylvania.

Hollow carved with head turned and bill tucked into feathers.  Relief carved wing tips and sleepy eyes.  Maker’s name and address stamped into the lead weight.  Writing on underside indicates it was last hunted over on December 17, 1985 on the Delaware River at Bordentown, New Jersey.  Noyes Museum Exhibit ink stamp on the underside with the date Aug. 91.  Measures 14” long.

CONDITION:  A few tiny paint rubs, otherwise excellent and original.
