Black duck and canvas parts bag, Ephraim Hildreth.
Ephraim Hildreth was a farm equipment parts dealer in his later life. The framed bag likely held tractor parts. Black duck is a very early bird attribute to Ephraim Hildreth and is branded “E. HILDRETH” twice in the underside. Decoy has long incised wing marks. Duck measures 16 ½”, bag frame measures 21 ¼” by 25 ¼”.
CONDITION: Very worn paint on duck with at least two coats of black on body; multiple early neck repairs; head has been off and reattached; canvas bag has multiple tears and shows some significant age.
