Description

Trout spearing decoy, Lake Chautauqua, New York, circa 1900.

Painted eyes and relief carved gills.  Metal fins and tail.  Lead strip weight on underside attached with tiny nails.  Open mouth filled with lead which is tacked in from underside.  Measures 8 1/2" long.

CONDITION:  Original paint with minor wear and moderate discoloration from an old coat of varnish or shellac.
