Root head merganser, Roger Williams, Sheepshead Bay, Long Island, New York, circa 1820’s.
Root head with extended crest is dowelled through the body and splined. Measures 15 1/2” long.
CONDITION: Very old working repaint that has worn down; drying cracks in body and one on head; minor roughness on one edge of tail.
