Hollow carved merganser hen from Marblehead, Massachusetts, 1st quarter 20th century.
Hollow carved, vertically laminated body once mounted with a keel. Measures 15 1/2” long.
CONDITION: Original paint with moderate flaking and wear; lightly hit by shot; minor separations at body seams; one glass eye missing; neck is a very early working replacement with head and neck seat being whittled.
