Description

Derelict merganser drake from Massachusetts, 1st quarter 20th century.

High back and small paddle tail.  Very old leather crest appears to have been added at some point to cover split in top of head.  Round inlet lead weight in underside.  Measures 14" long.

CONDITION:  Dry original paint with moderate to significant flaking and wear; chips in tail; tight crack in underside; chunk of one side of neck is missing; top and back side of head is split with an old piece of leather added to cover split on top which looks like an added crest feathers; white on wing patches may have been strengthened a long time ago but has flaked to the original; appears to have had wax or tack eyes that are missing.
