Description

Hollow carved eider from Maine, 1st quarter 20th century.

Large decoy with slightly turned head and large tack eyes.  Hollowed out from the underside with round inlet bottom board.  Branded 'CL Richards' branded into the bottom board.  Measures 18 1/4" long.

CONDITION:  In use repaint with minor to moderate wear; small dents and shot marks; small chips in tail; cracks at base of neck; old bill replacement.

Provenance:  Leila and Frank Matthew collection, Ormond Plantation, Destrehan, Louisiana.
