Description

Canvas covered oldsquaw and a loon from New England, 1st to 2nd quarter 20th century.

Oldsquaw with wooden bottom board, keel, and head.  Measures 11 1/4" long.

Loon likely started life as a merganser but was repainted as a loon at some point.  Inlet neck seat and relief carved wing tips.  Measures 18" long.

CONDITION:  Oldsquae in original paint with minor disoloration and wear; some old touh up to brown around bottom board; some loss to canvas around bottom board; small amount of filler to a hip in underside of bill; loon in a second coat of paint with moderate flaking and wear; drying cracks in body; minor roughness on edge of tail; chip in tip of bill; head is removable.
